Loewe Sucks, but These Bags Don’t: Lost Loves & Designer Steals

Welcome back to my weekly digest! I won’t lie, this week has had me scrambling for inspiration. We kicked things off with Proenza Schouler basically waving the white flag, a TikTok ban in the works, the inauguration drama, and let’s not forget - if you’re in New York, the freezing cold! 🥶 Layers upon layers, heat tech, wind chill - why does January feel like a year-long episode of Survivor? At least we got a long weekend to recharge! Thankfully, because I was about to be swallowed whole by my winter coat!

Let’s rewind a bit - I’m not saying I’m the reason Jack and Lazaro, the Creative Directors of Proenza Schouler are calling it quits, but you be the judge.

• I mention their timeless, IYKYK bags, and now they're like, “Eh, no one cares anymore, we outtie ✌️.”

I’m all for career moves, especially when you're in the game for a while 👀👀, but this feels a little like selling out, no? Sure, LVMH-backed Loewe has perks (💰🤑💰), and their global reach crushes Proenza’s, but have they seen the “redesigned” Puzzle bag? See my friends distaste below.

This poor design alone would make me rethink moving to Loewe. Sigh, now they are just another cog in the LVMH mass-production machine 🙄. Big thanks to Refinery29 for already having my thoughts put into words. Oh, and speaking of Loewe - the aforementioned friend did end up purchasing something small, and guess what? Final sale, no returns, store credit only, which they only mentioned AFTER the credit card was swiped. Classic 2000s Forever 21 vibes. 

Now that my distaste for Loewe is out of the way, let’s briefly touch on my distaste for the TikTok ban that lasted .5 seconds. While I loved seeing the influencers who push “healthy” habits finally admit that they had some help - no judgement just don’t lie about it man - it was an exhausting night. It is clear that the next 4 years will be filled with these types of publicity stunts, so we will all need to make sure we have hobbies to occupy our free time otherwise we will just spiral.

So with that, check out this week's dreams. You will not find any Proenza or Loewe because I need to get my “petty energy” out somehow 😇.

We are going to start off with a bag that I did NOT manage to get because the Foreign Objects loyalists are too fast. Whoever scored this cutie vintage Celine Boston Bag for $99, I will be eternally envious. I hope I come across you again in the future. Until then, you shall be the first entrant into Dizzy’s Lost Loves of the Week. A graveyard of all the bags that could have been ♥️

In the meantime, I will be lusting after this similar Gucci Princey on TRR. The little bows are just screaming to heal your inner child by buying me.

Next up, we have our Goodwill Segment:

• First up, this cutie from the Fendi Zucca family - the perfect pochette for those special events! Current bid price when I am writing this is $153 which is insane because I saw one at TRR in this same gold shade for upwards of $1k a few months ago.

• This Prada number starting at $151 is SCREAMING Andy Sachs post makeover when Miranda finally stops calling her Emily. By all means, move at a glacial pace - someone else might snag it!

• Last up in the Goodwill segment, this Chic YSL that my Grandma would love (hope you read last week's newsletter!). At first glance I honestly hated it but then upon zooming there is something extremely charming about this. I have never seen this style so that is probably what entices me about it. Plus $176 for vintage YSL is not too shabby. 

Last week I shilled Foreign Objects which is my most frequented small business consignment store and for good reason. This week, I want to highlight https://paststudies.shop/. I have not purchased anything from there as yet but have been lurking for over a year now.

• Craziest deal I can find today is this Pink LV Monogram which is not available literally anywhere else on the internet???? How did you guys get your hands on this! (Bonus points for the aesthetic product shots!).
